Environmental

Kolb self-performs environmental remediation and site restoration: from contaminated soil removal and disposal to erosion and sediment control, wetland and stream mitigation, and landfill work. One accountable team that returns impacted ground to a clean, compliant, buildable state.

Compliant, documented, restored

Overview

Remediation and restoration, managed end to end

Environmental work rewards preparation, documentation, and crews who understand what’s in the ground. Kolb handles the full sequence, assessment support, excavation and disposal of contaminated or impacted soils, erosion and sediment control, wetland and stream construction, and final restoration, under regulatory oversight from agencies like the DNR, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the EPA. Because we self-perform the majority of scope, compliance and schedule stay in our hands, not spread across a chain of subcontractors.

Full scope

The full environmental scope, under one contract

Environmental projects aren’t a single task. They’re a regulated program of remediation, controls, and restoration. Kolb self-performs and manages the entire scope, so nothing falls between subcontractors.

Capabilities

What our environmental crews deliver

Contaminated Soil Removal

Excavation, handling, and off-site disposal of impacted and contaminated soils.

Erosion & Sediment Control

SWPPP-compliant controls that keep sediment contained and the site permit-ready.

Wetland & Stream Work

Wetland construction, streambank stabilization, and aquatic habitat restoration.

Landfill & Cap Construction

Cell construction, liner and geomembrane installation, capping, and closure.

How we work

A controlled process, assessment to restoration.

One team owns the site from initial assessment support through final restoration and compliance reporting.

01

Assessment & Planning: we review the site assessment, permits, and disposal requirements, then build a compliant work and handling plan.

02

Controls & Mobilization: erosion and sediment controls go in first; crews and equipment mobilize with decontamination staged.

03

Excavation & Disposal: impacted soils are excavated, loaded, tracked, and hauled to approved disposal, or treated in place.

04

Restoration & Reporting: final grading, seeding, and habitat work restore the site, with documented testing and compliance reporting.

Problems we solve

The conditions that need a specialist

01

Contaminated or impacted soils

We excavate, handle, and dispose of regulated material safely, with load tracking and decontamination, so the site clears its environmental requirements.

02

Sediment leaving the site

SWPPP-driven erosion and sediment controls keep soil and runoff where they belong and keep the job inspection-ready from first storm to closeout.

03

Degraded wetlands & streams

We build and rehabilitate wetlands, stabilize streambanks, and restore aquatic habitat to agency-approved plans and strict environmental guidelines.

04

Regulatory & documentation burden

Testing, waste analysis, and compliance reporting are built into the work, giving agencies and owners the documented record the project requires.

Clean ground, restored habitat, documented compliance. We deliver it.

Safety

Safety is a culture, not a number.

For us, safety is more than an EMR figure. It’s how every crew shows up, every day. From daily planning and hazard analysis to ongoing crew training, we build safety into the work so our people go home safe and your project stays on track.

Daily hazard analysis

Every crew plans the work and the risks before it starts.

Ongoing safety training

Continuous training keeps our people sharp and certified.

Documented compliance

Full reporting and inspection coordination on every job.
