Industries We Serve

Energy

New markets for alternative energy are emerging fast, and large-scale power projects demand serious construction expertise. Kolb Grading brings deep construction knowledge to the power and energy sector: identifying obstacles ahead of time and delivering safe, clean, efficient sites for the facilities that keep the lights on.

Overview

Deep experience building for power and energy

Kolb places a high value on construction knowledge and expertise across power and energy projects: from new energy cells for traditional power plants to protective grading around oil storage and pump stations and land management for waterpower plants. We create and maintain safe environments that help power-producing facilities run cleanly, safely, and efficiently.

How we work

From first assessment to energy site delivered.

One team plans, mobilizes, and self-performs the sitework, so your energy project moves from kickoff to handoff without the gaps.

01

Assess & Plan: we walk the site, review the scope, and identify obstacles before work starts, so the plan fits the conditions and the schedule.

02

Mobilize: crews and our modern CAT fleet move to site and stage the work to keep the project moving safely from day one.

03

Self-Perform the Scope: we self-perform earthwork, stabilization, utilities, and demolition, keeping quality and schedule under one accountable team.

04

Deliver & Handoff: we finish to grade, complete cleanup, and hand off a safe, clean, ready site for the next phase of construction.

Problems we solve

The challenges energy sites bring

01

Remote, large-scale sites

Energy facilities sit on sprawling, often remote ground. Kolb mobilizes a self-performing crew and modern fleet so the full scope gets done without waiting on multiple subcontractors.

02

Tight outage and shutdown windows

Work often has to happen inside short outage windows. We plan the sequence up front and staff the job to hit the schedule and get facilities back online.

03

Complex earthwork and rock

Ash cells, berms, ponds, and rock excavation demand heavy earthwork. We self-perform mass grading, stabilization, and controlled blasting to keep demanding subgrades on spec.

04

Environmental and regulatory exposure

Spill containment and compliance are non-negotiable on energy sites. We install HDPE liners, geotextiles, and storm systems and document compliance every step.

Safe, reliable ground keeps the power on. We deliver it.

Safety

Safety is a culture, not a number.

For us, safety is more than an EMR figure. It’s how every crew shows up, every day. From daily planning and hazard analysis to ongoing crew training, we build safety into the work so our people go home safe and your project stays on track.

Daily hazard analysis

Every crew plans the work and the risks before it starts.

Ongoing safety training

Continuous training keeps our people sharp and certified.

Documented compliance

Full reporting and inspection coordination on every job.
